The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has announced with deep sorrow the passing of Correctional Officer Ryan Marietti, who tragically lost his life in a vehicle accident.
In the early hours of August 28, 2026, Ryan was involved in a solo-vehicle crash along U.S. Route 50 near Strawberry, California. The incident claimed the life of a dedicated officer and respected member of the community.
Ryan began his service with the Sheriff’s Office in December 2024, working at both the Placerville and South Lake Tahoe jails. During his time in service, he was known for his strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to growth within the department. He had ambitions of advancing through the ranks and continuing a career dedicated to public service.
Before joining the department, Ryan was part of the Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 457, where he distinguished himself as a committed member and competitor. He was also a proud graduate of Ponderosa High School, class of 2023.
His passing is a significant loss to his family, friends, colleagues, and the wider community he chose to serve. Ryan Marietti will be remembered for his dedication, character, and service.
