A passenger ferry carrying around 270 people has capsized off the coast of northern Cyprus, leaving at least six people dead, according to early reports.
The incident happened near Kyrenia (Girne), about 2 km offshore, while the vessel was traveling toward the Turkish port of Tasucu. The boat is believed to be a high-speed catamaran-type ferry.
Authorities say dozens of passengers have been rescued from the water, but many others remain unaccounted for, with some reports indicating nearly 100 people are still missing as search efforts continue.
