A crash on northbound Interstate 405 between Renton and Bellevue, Washington, caused significant traffic delays Friday morning after multiple lanes were blocked during the early commute.
The incident was reported at approximately 5:50 a.m. just south of Northeast 44th Street, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. Initially, three right lanes and the HOV lane were affected, leading to heavy congestion as emergency crews responded to the scene.
First responders worked to manage the situation while gradually reopening parts of the roadway. The HOV and left lanes were cleared first, allowing some traffic to pass as cleanup operations continued.
By around 7:00 a.m., all lanes had been fully reopened, easing traffic flow in the area. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the cause of the crash.
Motorists in the area experienced delays during the closure and were advised to plan alternate routes while the incident was ongoing.
