Authorities in Georgetown County, South Carolina are urgently searching for Sailor Hayes, a 5-year-old girl who was reported missing on Sunday in the Hagley area.
The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office said the child was last seen near Old Waccamaw Drive in Hagley after reportedly wandering away. Her disappearance prompted an immediate multi-agency response.
Search operations have been intensified, with K9 units, drones, marine patrol teams, and volunteers combing the area. Divers from neighboring agencies have also joined efforts, searching nearby waterways and docks as concerns grow for the child’s safety.
Authorities are also using aerial support, including helicopters equipped with tracking technology, as part of efforts linked to Project Lifesaver to detect the child’s transponder signal.
Sailor is described as approximately 3 feet 6 inches tall, with blond hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a light blue one-piece bathing suit and a pink-and-white ankle lanyard. Officials noted she may not respond verbally but could react to calm voices and gentle approach.
