The Australian boxing community is mourning the death of legendary fighter Tony Mundine, aged 75.
Tony Mundine was one of Australia’s most accomplished boxers, becoming the first to compete across four weight divisions: middleweight, light-heavyweight, cruiserweight, and heavyweight. He retired with 80 wins, 15 losses, and 1 draw, including 64 knockout victories.
His passing has left a deep impact on his family and the boxing world. His son, Anthony Mundine, confirmed the news in an emotional message, saying he was “broken” and on his way home to say goodbye. Fellow boxing figures across Australia have also paid tribute, describing Tony as a pioneer and respected figure in the sport.
Tony continued to influence boxing long after retirement, supporting his son’s career and inspiring younger generations, including his grandson Rahim Mundine, who has begun his own professional boxing journey.
He fought for the WBA middleweight title in 1974 against Carlos Monzón and remained active in boxing circles until his later years, leaving behind a lasting legacy in Australian sport.
